A look back on the release show for Bold as Logs.
Huge thanks to the West End Cultural Centre for presenting the show and being a pillar of the music scene here in Winnipeg. Merci Jorge Ramos for all the support and help!
Thanks to Melissa Smigelski for creating the most beautiful banner I ever saw, using materials gathered at my house. It's a stunner and I'll be bringing it everywhere from now on, wearing it, sunbathing on it, the possibilities are endless.
Thanks to Braden Salt for being a wonderful tech to work with, making us sound great in the room, and recording the show.
Thanks to BNB Studios for coming to capture video of the performance. Love working with you.
Thank you to Juvel who opened the night, I am a huge fan and it was honour to share this celebration with you, with the wonderful addition of Daniel Koulack no less.
Thanks to my incredible band: Damon Mitchell, Grant Siemens, Ashley Roch, Sol James, Sarah Dugas (who flew in from LA!!!) and Jacques Dubois.
Thanks to special guests: Sierra Noble, Ariane Jean, Alexa Renée.
I love you all so dearly.
Thanks to Brodie Parachoniak who took all these pictures. They capture the magic of the night and I will treasure them forever.
UN GROS MERCI to all who were able to attend. The feeling in that room is one I will carry with me a long time. Love and community, it's what it's all about! If you weren't able to make in person, you were there with us, in that big ol' hug and I hope these pictures place you right in the middle of it!
Nothing but gratitude for all of it. Maarsi, du fond dmon ptchi coeur.
From January to May 2022, Andrina undertook a creative residency in Louisiana to research, write and collaborate. Six weeks of the residency took place at A Studio in the Woods (ByWater Institute, Tulane University) as part of the Rising: A Climate in Crisis residency program. The rest of the residency was funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and was spent in Southwest Louisiana, mainly in Lafayette, Abbeville and Arnaudville. New works and collaborations are anticipated to be recorded in 2024-2025.
A Studio in the Woods, located in eight forested acres on the Mississippi River in Bulbancha/New Orleans, is dedicated to forest preservation, science-inspired art engagement, and providing a peaceful retreat for artists and scholars who are tackling the challenging issues of our time with power and imagination. Song recorded remotely with Eric Adcock and Chad Viator. The episode, called Fire, features interviews with Jane Fonda, Sherry Yano and Ian Mauro.
Andrina Turenne tells stories through song, delivered in the spirit of road trips, kitchen parties, and bonfire gatherings. In April of 2023, the Juno award-winning Franco-Manitoban/Red River Métis artist released her first solo record, Bold as Logs. The bilingual, spirited debut has charted on independent radio in Canada and the US. Turenne is slated for several festival performances in 2024 including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
